Pencil Sketching

I like to draw alot. During my school and college days, I used to do drawing related to my curriculum. Taking this to next level, I started to do some sketches of animals,landscape and so on. Some of my recent drawings are posted below.

This is a pencil sketch of a broken Castle. I like something that is old/broken and also I like drawing houses.




This is a sketch of a ranch house with a beautiful garden. One thing that interests me the most in US is that most of the houses have beautiful garden. I love the fact that so much interest and dedication is shown to maintain a beautiful garden.


This is a drawing of a still life of a typical living room.



It is a sketch of a photograph. I liked the effort taken to capture this picture to show the reversed "L" of the flying bird and also the steps.



I love animals especially dogs. This drawing is done in the memory of my dog "Diddle".She is a white Pomeranian and a very enthusiastic doggie.


This is a drawing of a Mama and Baby elephant. In this drawing, I liked the naughtiness and innocence of the the baby elephant and at the same time how cutely the baby elephant holds the Mama's trunk.


How can any drawings go without any predatory animals. This is a sketch done to save tigers which are becoming extinct.


Last but not the least, this is a sketch of a squirrel. I live in Squirrel hill,Pittsburgh. In my backyard there used to be a squirrel and he/she used to peep near my living room window everyday. I wanted to do something in the memory of this squirrel so did this particular one. I used color pencils to do something colorful.

Doggie-Jeeves

Description:
Doggie-Jeeves painting was done in the memory of my cousin's dog 'Jeeves'. This is a painting of a picture. Jeeves is a pointer and a black Labrador mix. Jeeves loves food alot. So whenever we used to show him food he used to look at us as in the painting. In the original picture there was a little red colored coat in the background so I thought of painting the whole background red and giving a fuzzy effect.

Flowers on a divided Canvas

Description:
I did the Diptych "Flowers on a Divided canvas" painting because I wanted to do something of bigger size and also asymmetrical. I also wanted to work on the dimension of a painting. When searched for painting on web, which is asymmetrical, I found this particular one with multiple canvases.I liked the idea behind using multiple canvases and tried to paint this one. I learnt how to work on dimensions as well as how to work on a bigger sized canvas.

Bird Paradise

Description:
I wanted to do something abstract and also related to birds. I liked the fine details of the wings and the color patterns.I tried something different compared to the original one by adding some extra fine details near the wings,on top(red,green,yellow dots) and gave a little fuzzy effect.I was imagining as if the bird is just flying above the sea and a storm is approaching the bird. This bird is flying hard to escape from the storm and becomes a fairy. Hence named the painting as bird Paradise.

Birdie Photographed

Description :
The 'birdie photographed'is a painting of photograph[taken at Aviary,Pittsburgh]. I liked this bird with a black and red feathers. In the actual picture it is having a blue background but I gave a light brown and yellow backgound to achieve a gradation pattern. To give a 3D effect to the tree-bark, I used a 'Tar gel' medium.

Butterfly on a raw canvas

Description :
This painting was done during my painting classes. This is a painting done on a raw canvas. The canvas was rolled on a paper which contained different colored paints on it and then after the canvas was dried, it was been stretched using the stretcher bars and later on a foreground butterfly was been painted.

Cloudy Evening

Description :
This is a landscape painting using chinese brush. This took me alot more time even though it was of small size. I worked alot on the gradation, giving a layered coat to get the background effect and was also trying hard not to spoil the painting by tearing as it was done on canvas paper. I was successful in achieving the desired effect.

I wanted to do chinese brush painting which deals with working on fine details. I was successful in doing this painting as I learnt how to work with fine details.

The four-in-one painting is originally done on 4 different canvas pad.I found editing into single image was interesting so edited as single image. These were my first Chinese painting done. I like the concept of using simple patterns and colors used in Chinese painting brush art. This was my motivation to do more and more painting. Hence, I started to paint on birds.
